Why take an allergy test?
Do you dread the high pollen season, fear eating out in case you eat something that makes you feel uncomfortable, get anxious about visiting someone because your eyes itch and nose runs when you see their cat or dog? Chances are you have an allergy.
You are not alone however, as more than 1 in 4 of people are affected by allergies at some point in their lives. Whilst allergies are more common in children, increasing numbers of adults are also affected, with some developing more allergies as they get older.
Allergies occur when the body’s immune system responds to something that is normally harmless, such as animal fur, pollens in the air, certain foods, or just house dust, as if they are harmful to the body. The response may be mild in the form of a runny nose, or coughing, and some breathing issues. The skin may become tender and inflamed and itchy.
Symptoms can also be severe and life-threatening, especially after repeated exposure to the substance, called an allergen.

Identifying molecular allergens provides a thorough understanding of allergic cross-reactions. Molecular allergens are found in a number of different foods and pollens. If you are allergic to a molecule found in a whole allergen like an apple you are also likely to react to other foods and some pollens containing that same molecule, resulting in similar unpleasant symptoms.
