Florence Hing

Florence Hing is an experienced Physiotherapist based in London who works clinically in private practice, having left the NHS in 2018. Over the past 18 years her specialist interest areas have been and continue to be neurological conditions including brain injury and associated polytrauma, Spinal Cord Injury rehabilitation and management. She also has experience of falls and fall prevention, having worked across Tower Hamlets within falls services and has managed caseloads that include orthopaedic, medical, ITU, musculoskeletal outpatient and paediatric conditions and needs.

Working within neurological rehabilitation, Florence has knowledge of and experience of epilepsy, cognitive difficulties and learning disabilities, bilateral lower limb weakness and contracture development. In addition she is experienced in vestibular rehabilitation, canalith repositioning manoeuvres, ergonomic assessment and women’s health.

Her career has been spent working across London at Whittington Health NHS Trust, Barts Health NHS Trust, Hounslow and Richmond PCT and Whipps Cross University Hospital. During that time she has led and managed clinical teams working in busy inner London discharge teams and worked with a large caseload of clients from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Within her clinical caseload, Florence has a breadth of experience working in the community and community rehabilitation. She was the clinical team lead for the Immediate Care Service in Islington, leading a team of therapists and nurses to deliver intermediate care services in both domiciliary and bed-based settings.

Florence is particularly experienced in developing and coordinating community management plans for complex patients and acts as a professional resource for the rehabilitation and discharge teams as well as the wider Adult Community Directorate. She also has experience of setting up support worker packages on behalf of the client, developing therapy regimes and training support workers to integrate them into the client’s family.

Due to the senior positions she has held, Florence is experienced in investigating incidents, developing services and working with a multitude of clinical and local authority teams such as social services. She is also knowledgeable of safeguarding concerns and is able to lead MDT’s, deescalating conflicts within the team and within families to maintain effective working relationships throughout rehabilitation.
