Bideltoid (Shoulder) Measurements
The Bideltoid (shoulder) measurement is an essential procedure for determining seat positioning in offshore helicopters. This measurement ensures that passengers are assigned seats compatible with their body size, particularly in relation to emergency exit access.
Why Is Bi-Deltoid Measurement Important?
Passengers with a shoulder width of 55.9 cm or greater are classified as Extra-Broad (XBR) and require specific seating arrangements for safety. Regular measurements help maintain compliance with offshore safety standards.
If your shoulder measurement is 54.8 cm or greater, re-measurements are recommended to account for potential margin errors. This helps ensure continued safety and adherence to guidelines.
When Is Bideltoid Measurement Needed?
This measurement is typically included in the standard NOGEPA offshore examination. However, for some international examinations where the shoulder measurement is not part of the process, a separate appointment may be necessary.
